-ABOUT US-
Itakura no Yado Tanezo is a renovated old minka (traditional Japanese house) located in Tanezo village in the backcountry of Hida, Gifu Prefecture.
Guests can experience a part of the seasonal mountain village life upon request.
It is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town and spend some time feeling the atmosphere of life in a mountain village.
We hope that this will be a place where you can experience new insights and a relaxing exchange of ideas.
Tanezura Village still retains its own unique customs, culture, and traditions, which are filled with the wisdom and history of the local residents.
The village has a variety of unique customs and cultural traditions, including masonry and waterways made of natural stones handmade by the villagers, a wooden storehouse made of solid chestnut trees that has been preserved for hundreds of years, terraced rice paddies, myoga fields, buckwheat fields, and sesame fields, a charcoal-making hut used for the inn's hearth and a "pounding house" where buckwheat flour is ground using water power, and many more.
